Police arraign man, 26, for allegedly stealing N20,500 at FUOYE

The Police on Thursday arraigned a 26-year old man, Olowoyo Emmanuel, before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged Stealing.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 20 at about 10:40 p.m at Dawn Area Federal University Oye-Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the defendant stole N20,500 cash belonging to one Olalekan Azeez.

He said the offence contravened the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to grant the defendant bail with a promise that he would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case till June 26 for hearing.(NAN)
