Operatives attached to the Eagle-Net Special Squad on routine stop and search duty have arrested an 18-year-old suspected armed robber, Mamus Obine along the Ughelli/Warri road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Police also recovered one (1) locally made double barrel pistol and ten (10) live cartridges from the suspect.
It was learnt that the police intercepted a motorcycle with two (2) male occupants.
On sighting the Police, the passenger alighted from the motorcycle and ran into a nearby bush.
The Police gave the suspects a hot chase and in the process, one of them was arrested.
The above items were recovered during a search of the suspect’s bag.
The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Muhammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
The Police image-maker said that, “Preliminary investigation later revealed that the suspect operated with two other suspects – namely Austin and Thankgod ( both surnames unknown).”
According to DSP Edafe, “The suspect confessed that he was after one Kingsley whom he had issues of money sharing with after he defrauded his victim of the sum Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (#800,000) from the internet and that he was about going to attack the said Kingsley with the gun when the police intercepted and arrested him.
“Investigation is on while manhunt for the other members of the gang is ongoing.”
