The Police Command in Kaduna has inaugurated a task team on emergency response to COVID-19 challenge on movement of food and agricultural inputs.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige made the disclosure in a statement on Friday in Kaduna.
Jalige said the Joint Technical Task Team (JTTT) was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna state Command, Mr Umar Muri.
“The Kaduna State Police Command wishes to inform members of the general public that the team was inaugurated in compliance with the directive of the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
“The Joint Technical Task Team (JTTT) on Emergency Response to COVID 19 Challenges on Movement of Food and Agricultural Inputs in the country, Kaduna State chapter, has been inaugurated on May 7.
“The State Chairman of the Committee is CP Umar Muri, other members of the Committee include: Mr Shehu Zarewa, Deputy Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna Command.
“Others include: Alhaji Mohammed Salihu, Chairman All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Kaduna State Chapter; Mr Bature Suleiman, Secretary, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Kaduna state chapter.
“Also, Mr John Femi, Secretary, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Chapter, Alhaji Babangida Ja’afar, Chairman, Nigeria Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Kaduna State Chapter; and Dr Timkat Vantau, Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Kaduna, as Secretary of the Committee,’’ he said.
According to Jalige, the responsibility of the Committee is to liaise with all relevant agencies in the state and local government areas to facilitate a free and unhindered movement of food and agricultural inputs throughout the state without compromising the security and health of the state.
He explained that this was to ensure the creation of a window to facilitate free movement of food and agricultural inputs throughout Nigeria.
Jalige said the CP assured residents of the state that the committee’s activities would reflect in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
“To ensure a hitch free movement of food and agricultural inputs in and out of the state to ensure that agricultural activities are not affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The CP enjoins all stakeholders and members of the public to cooperate with the committee while carrying out its assignment.
