A suspected armed robber, simply identified as Andrew, has been reported dead after sustaining serious injuries during an exchange of gunfire with the Rapid Response Team from the “A” Division in Warri on visibility patrol in Delta State.
The suspect died while receiving treatment at the hospital.
Two other suspects were said to have escaped with bullet wounds.
This is coming as the Police recovered a locally-made pistol loaded with a live cartridge, N130,000, one small Nokia phone, and a Toyota Corolla with Reg. Number: RBC 218 BL grey in color from the suspect.
It was learnt that the deceased suspect and two other members of a criminal gang allegedly robbed an unknown victim along the Warri/Sapele road near Warri Club as they operated in the recovered vehicle.

The Delta State Police Command led by CP Ari Mohammed Ali confirmed the report in a statement signed by acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
The police image maker said, “The armed robbers on sighting the police fired at the men and during the gun duel, one of the armed robbers sustained serious gunshot injury while two others escaped with a bullet wound.
“The injured suspect was rushed to the hospital where he gave up the ghost while receiving treatment.”
According to DSP Edafe, “The suspect before he died gave his name as Andrew and admitted to being a member of the dreaded imomotimi group, a daredevil gang that has been on the command’s wanted list.”
