Policeman kills Air force officer in Cross River

A police officer from Mopol eleven in Calabar, Cross River State, Williams Enah, has allegedly shot dead a Airforce personnel.

The incident happened on Wednesday in an ATM section of a commercial bank on Marian Road, Calabar.

According to Daily Post, the policeman who was on duty in the bank shot the Airforce personnel while he was trying to disperse a crowd who wanted to attack him.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo said, “The Air Force Officer was hit and he was rushed to the Police Clinic where he was confirmed dead by the Police Doctor”.

Explaining the circumstances that led to the killing she said,

“The eight Air Force Officers were in mufti and after the incident, it was discovered that they were Air Force personnel.

“The Commissioner of Police and the Air Force Commander are putting their heads together to make sure that the situation is brought under control.

“The Policeman (Suspect) was whisked away from the scene and his gun was taken away from him by the Police command to avoid further situation.

“The suspect would face orderly room trial and if found wanting, will be sanction according to the law. Investigation is continuing. He is Sergeant Williams Enah from Mopol eleven,” she stated.
