Prophet Ogundipe may mark his 47th birthday behind bars

Except a miracle happens and he is granted bail, which is most unlikely, the Shepherd-in-Charge of Celestial Church of Christ Global, otherwise called (Genesis), Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, (revered by his members as Baba Genesis), may spend his next birthday in prison.

Efforts to make sure this did not happen have so far failed as no court is prepared to hear his bail for now.

Prophet Israel Ogundipe was jailed last year for defrauding a United Kingdom-based woman, Mrs. Olaide Williams-Oni.

Ogundipe, who has been on trial since 2011, was sentenced to two years imprisonment by a Lagos State High Court after he was found guilty of the crime.

Despite his travails however, members of the church have decided not to merely mark, but to celebrate his birthday on March 10. Invitation cards which has already been printed ahead of the celebration stated that the event would be held in the church auditorium at Alakuko, Lagos.

Sources said members would seize the occasion to offer special prayers for the embattled prophet and to give to the needy.

Born March 10, 1974, Ogundipe is seen by many as a selfless giver and great philanthropist, and he has been a prophet for more than 15 years.
