Prince Debo Adesina, a PDP aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly Kosofe Constituency I seat in 2023 elections, says quality healthcare and security will top his priority list if elected.
Adesina noted that the urgent need to set a standard of parliamentarian representation informed his decision to contest.
He made the disclosure to newsmen in Lagos that his resolve is to bring his wealth of experience and international exposure to bear in halting the maltreatment of ordinary people in the constituency.
According to him, the decision to contest for the office is just to show that politics is all about changing lives of the people at the grassroots and not about living large on public funds.
“Coming to represent my people of Kosofe Constituency I in the House of Assembly will not be what all the past and current representatives are doing.
“What I have done in the past as the founder of Nigerians’ Lives Matter in South African is to stand up against any form of maltreatment of my people here in South Africa.
“The same ideology is what I will love to deploy my strength to if I am elected to represent this constituency in Lagos Assembly.
“The people of Kosofe Constituency I will be a pilot scheme and a case for other constituency to emulate if I am given the opportunity to represent them,” Adesina said.
The diasporean aspirant said that he had visited almost all the wards in the constituency, wooing the people to support his ambition.
Adesina said that he had been introducing himself to the people, communicating his ideology and determination to take over the representation of Kosofe Constituency I in order to provide real representation for the people.
“I want to deploy my wealth of knowledge in the community.
“I not just want to contest election for the sake of contesting but I want to be able to use the People’s funds for the people of the constituency as against the current happenings where representatives of the people live bigger that the people that elect them.
“My own candidacy will be used as a case study after winning election. If the people really want to see the real change, they should vote for me,” he added.
Adesina expressed his commitment to use his pedigree and international exposure to tackle the issue of insecurity, youth idleness and restiveness in the constituency.
He said that his investigation showed that there were a lot of problems of insecurity among the youths because of idleness.
Adesina added: “A lot of people have dropped dead just because they have not been able to get required care in our health facility, that can help them to have routine medical check-ups for free.
“I want to be able to influence the bill that would speak about good healthcare centres in some of these communities for the people to have free access to quality and affordable health services.”
