The Qudriyyah Movement of Lagos State, under the revered leadership of its Grand Khalifah, Sheikh Muh. Soliu Babaniji Amosa has extended heartfelt felicitations to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on his 60th birthday celebration today, Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
In a joint message also signed by Dr. Abdul Qodri Jimoh, the Seriki Qudriyyah for Africa and National Custodian; Sheikh Abdul Lateef Ibrahim Shugaba Solaty, the Grand Khalifah of the Qudriyyah Movement in South West Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic, and Ivory Coast; and Sheikh Ahmad Rufai Solaty (Naqeebul Ashraf), a renowned spiritual leader of the movement, the leadership of the Qudriyyah fraternity praised the Lagos State Governor for his exemplary public service and transformational leadership.
Speaking on behalf of the Lagos State Qudriyyah community, Grand Khalifah Sheikh Soliu Babaniji Amosa said:
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has proven himself to be a visionary leader who places the welfare of the people at the heart of his governance. On this special occasion of his 60th birthday, we offer our heartfelt prayers to Almighty Allah to bless him with long life, good health, and greater wisdom to continue serving Lagos State and Nigeria at large.”
Sheikh Amosa further noted that the governor’s contributions to infrastructure development, education reform, and peaceful coexistence in the state have earned him respect across religious and ethnic lines.
Also speaking, Dr. Abdul Qodri Jimoh emphasised the importance of spiritual support for leaders:
“In Islam, we believe that a just leader is a blessing from Allah. Our movement believes in praying for our leaders rather than cursing them. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Governor Sanwo-Olu with prayers and guidance, especially in these trying times.”
Sheikh Abdul Lateef Ibrahim Shugaba Solaty, who oversees Qudriyyah activities across West Africa, described the governor as “a symbol of stability and progress,” adding that his leadership continues to inspire young people across the region.
In his own message, Sheikh Ahmad Rufai Solaty (Naqeebul Ashraf) also offered fervent prayers for the governor’s continued guidance and success, emphasising the spiritual responsibility of religious leaders to uplift those in authority.
“It is part of our duty as custodians of Islamic values to pray for our leaders. Governor Sanwo-Olu has demonstrated compassion and courage in his administration, and we pray that Allah increases him in light, wisdom, and strength,” Sheikh Ahmad Rufai Solaty said.
The Qudriyyah Movement, known for its deep-rooted Sufi traditions and emphasis on peace, education, and moral reformation, urged other religious bodies and citizens to use the governor’s milestone birthday as a moment of unity, reflection, and prayer for the nation’s progress.
The message contains a collective du’a (prayer) for Governor Sanwo-Olu:
“May Allah continue to guide him, protect him from all evil, and grant him the strength to fulfil his vision for a greater Lagos.”
As celebrations and commendations pour in from across the state, the Qudriyyah Movement’s message stands out as a voice of spiritual encouragement and communal solidarity.
