One of Nigeria’s oldest unity schools – The Queens College, Lagos was reported to have been gutted by fire on Sunday.
Sunrise News gathered that the fire started in a two-room boy’s quarters located behind one of the various staff quarters in the all-girls school. The affected rooms are used as lodging as well as store for the school.
The Director, Lagos Fire and Rescue Service Margaret Adeseye, who conformed the incident said there were no casualty.
Adeseye said, men of the state fore service quickly controlled the incident and put out the fire.
According to her: “The cause of the fire today, is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the fire has since been put out by the combined effort of the Lagos State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service. The Police was also on ground to prevent hoodlums from forcefully gaining access to the school premises. No life was lost in the incident.”
