EPL: Rafa Benitez speaks on getting sacked after 4-1 defeat to Liverpool

Everton manager, Rafa Benitez is adamant he is not fearful for his job following a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday night.

Mohammed Salah scored twice for the Reds, while Jordan Henderson and Diogo Jota also got on the score sheet.

Demarai gray briefly made it 2-1 before half time, before Jurgen Klopp’s turned on the style after the interval.

The result saw Everton’s winless run extended to eight games.

They have taken just two points from a possible 24 and failed to win a home derby in more than 11 years.

“Everybody has to be disappointed because we have lost the derby. But we lost because we made mistakes against a top side.

“We have seen how much money Liverpool have spent and how successful they have been in recent years. It can happen if you don’t do things right, and we didn’t do things right.

“We gave them the chance to score, against any other team maybe it would not be so bad, but against a top side with top-class players, you suffer and pay for that.

have to take the positives and the positive of this team is at the beginning of the season everyone was so happy, with the commitment and the way we were playing and winning. We have to go back to this first phase.

“We were losing players for injuries and now we have to get these players back and we will have more competition in the team, and we can play at the level before,” Benitez said after the game.
