The Rivers State Police Command has said it has begun search for the officers involved in the alleged brutalisation of a lady in a viral video during a stop and search operation in the state.

According to the statement by the command, efforts to identify the officers in question have begun.

“The attention of the Rivers State Police Command has been drawn to this trending video,” the statement shared on the commands X page (#RiversPoliceNG) read Saturday.

“The Command wishes to inform the general public that all hands are on deck to identify the police officers in the trending video for proper investigation,” it added.

Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared the viral clip on his Facebook page Friday, called for the intervention of the Rivers State Police Command.

Also tagging the Police Force Public Relations Officer, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in the same post, Gwamnishu wrote, “Dear @adejobimuyiwa, Jennifer was yesterday allegedly badly beaten by your officers on ‘stop and search’ around Ada George, Rivers State @PoliceNG_Rivers.

“Please investigate this and call these men to order. Thank you.”
