…as RTN Adewale Adebiyi emerges 41st President

The Rotary Club of Agege celebrated its 40th anniversary on Saturday, 27th July, 2024 in grand style.
The ceremony which took place at Sheraton hotel, Lagos was attended by rotary leaders and top dignitaries in the country.
The event also saw RTN Adewale Adebiyi crowned the 41st president of the association.
The 41st President of the association, Irresistible Adewale Adebiyi while delivering his acceptance speech at the event, said the club’s future is bright and stated that the rotary club of Agege is known for vocational training for the youths.
Adewale emphasised the measure the rotary club is taking to establish a vocational and rehabilitation centre in partnership with Lagos State Government in order to rehabilitate those addicted with drug abuse of any kind.
He noted that the club wants to solve societal challenges, emphasising that the club is raising the sum of N 150 Million for the acquisition of landed property for the construction of a club house, vocational rehabilitation centre and other projects to ensure smooth running of his administration for the year.
He emphasised the importance of serving humanity without expecting rewards and also encouraged upcoming leaders to have a passion for serving and saving lives.
Adewale highlighted his own experience of being helped by others and the impact it had on his life. He urged others to serve and make a positive impact on society.
The Chairman, Planning Committee of the event, PAG Kolawole Ojelabi while delivering the welcome address spoke about the launching of the association project and appealed to everyone to join rotary so they can take the association to the next level.
In the same light, the outgoing President of the association, IPP Bayo Oke while delivering his valedictory speech urged the rotary club to remain the best both locally and internationally, and also call on the members to support the new administration for a smooth year.
Awards of different categories, such as recognition of outstanding performance were given at the ceremony.
Ademola Igbalajobi, Liu Meijiao, Dr. Olukayode Akinlade, Kamarudeen Kareem OLadosu, Dr. Adedamola Dada, Dr. Mustapha Alimi and Dr. Mrs Oluyemsi C. Ogun were all honoured with the recognition of outstanding performance, dedication to humanity and medical service award.
The objective of rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and in particular, to encourage and foster the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service, to create high ethical standards in business and professions, and to improve the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
