SUNRISE NEWS, Lagos, Sept 18, 2020 A call has gone to Rotarians to see the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the world as an opportunity for them to do more for humanity.
The District Governor of District 9110, Mr Bola Oyebade said this on Friday, during his official visit to the Rotary Club of Omole Golden, which held at the Excellence Hotel, Ogba, Lagos.
Oyebade said though the COVID-19 pandemic caused a huge distortion to the economy of many nations and killed millions of people across the world, Rotarians should see the pandemic as an opportunity to continue to serve and to lift humanity out of the ravages of the deadly infection, especially during the post COVID-19 period.
Oyebade who praised the Rotary Club of Omole Golden for its strides over the years, said the District would continue to look towards the club for the sustenance of the ideals of service, especially the actualization of the mega micro-credit which seeks to give 200 people N50000 as credit and the pelvic cancer treatment and facility the district is proposing to build in the Lagos State.
Oyebade as part of the visit launched the club’s one million Naira micro credit which was distributed to 10 beneficiaries, the induction of seven new members into the Rotary International family, commissioning of water and sanitation project, and refurbishment of a laboratory project at Ajuwon Senior Grammar School, to mark the basic education and literacy month.
Earlier in his welcome, the Club’s President Alih Ogwu expressed the hope that the DG’s visit would further encourage and to solidify the club’s continuous learning and staying focused on Rotary’s set goals.
He said: “Omole Golden has carried out two projects in two projects on the area of focus, which was tree planting project at Ajuwon Senior Grammar School and the unveiling of COVID-19 enlightenment billboard at Ifako-ijaiye Healthcare Centre.”
