As encomiums continued to pour on the former Provost of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education ( MOCOPED) Epe and Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government during the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Professor Tunde Samuel who died Wednesday evening, February 16, 2022 in Lagos, the Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Education, Tokunbo Wahab, has described the death of the deceased as a big loss to the State government and the State Education family.
Tokunbo in a statement he personally signed and released to the press stated that Professor Samuel contributed immensely to the growth of the State education both as a State actor in various capacities and later as a consultant to the State government on Education.
” we are definitely going to miss one of our big pillars in education,
Professor Tunde Samuel, with commitment, laid solid foundation for strong and sustainable educational growth of the State when he was the Special Adviser on Education to the former Emeritus governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
“when I assumed Office as the Special Adviser on Education under the present administration, I followed his footsteps in the performance of my statutory responsibilities and things started working perfectly well for us because he had through his rich educational background, genuine commitment and selflessness laid foundation for growth and excellence, we will surely miss his wealth of experience in this sector and I assure the public that we will continue to uphold his legacies and follow his foot steps in the implementation of the State educational policies in line with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s education Science and Technology vision” Wahab assured.
While noting that the late academia contributed largely to the birth of two additional State Universities for the State , the Special Adviser hinted that Prof. Samuel as a pioneer Provost of Michael Otedola College of Education, Naforija, Epe brought a lot of infrastructure developments to the College, while he also brought significant transformations to Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin when he was the Chairman of its Governing Council, adding that his efforts on both Colleges contributed in no small ways to their successful upgrades to the University of Education status by the Sanwo – Olu administration.
According to him, the late Scholar had presented several position papers to the Federal Government on the development of the education of the State, noting that his various contributions and efforts added value to the the educational growth that the State is enjoying today.
” the late academia had really imprinted his name on a sands of history that will be too difficult to forget, an erudite strategist, a focused leader, Prof. Samuel died when his wealth of experience is most needed in our political firmament.” Wahab stated.
The Special Adviser prayed that God would grant his soul eternal rest , forgive him all his shortcomings, give his family and the State government, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and make his grave a permanent resting place.
