- As Governor commissions Oke-Odo Junior High School
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured residents of the State that his second term in office will be more rewarding, especially in the education sector.
Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Friday during the commissioning of Oke-Odo Junior High School (Education District IV) at Ebute-Metta in Lagos Mainland.
He said the newly commissioned school is an affirmation of his administration’s commitment to the provision of conducive environment for learning and teaching in all public schools in line with the THEMES agenda of his government.
The facilities in the newly commissioned Oke-Odo Junior High School are 15 blocks of classrooms, a laboratory, a Staff room, a Sick Bay, a Principal Office, a Vice Principal Office, 36 toilets, and a multi-purpose sports facility for long tennis, volleyball, basketball, and badminton.
He said commissioning of the school and other projects by his administration this week were part of the activities lined up for his second term inauguration.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured Lagos residents that his administration would ensure good governance and would not disappoint the people as they supported him during the election.
The Governor disclosed that the State Government had commissioned 135 classrooms in public schools in the past three days. He therefore urged Lagosians to take possession of government assets and put them to good use.
He said: “We will stop at nothing at ensuring that the very best is pushed forward at all times. I want to assure you that we will do more in our second term as we get sworn in on Monday.
“Our investment in the education sector and the future of our children have continued to yield the desired outcome through the good performance of Lagos State public school students at both state and national competitions.
“We believe the facilities will address the challenge of the inadequacy of infrastructure and will move our education sector toward attaining a global standard for effective learning and teaching.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced his administration’s decision to fix Cole Street in Ebute-Metta. “I am going to instruct the Lagos Public Works to fix Cole Street,” he said.
Speaking during the commissioning, Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo, commended the incumbent administration on its efforts to improve educational sector in the State.
