An unidentified operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad has allegedly killed a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority official(LASTMA) in the Iyana Ipeju area of Lagos State.
The incident happened on Monday evening, The Nation reports.
Trouble started when the LASTMA official flagged down the SARS officer for a traffic offence.
However, the SARS operative reportedly engaged in a heated argument with the LASTMA official and warned him never to stop him again.
In the course of exchanging heated words, the angry officer went to his car, brought out a gun and shot the traffic official.
Confirming the reports, LASTMA Public Relations Officer, Mahmud Hassan, said an investigation is ongoing.
According to reports, an eyewitness claimed that the SARS officer drove a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV)
The LASTMA official was rushed to Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Meanwhile, the SARS officer has been arrested.
