Following the incessant attacks on schools and kidnapping of students, the Minister, Federal Ministry of State Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, charged the public to be vigilant as lives and properties of schools must be protected.

This was made known in Jigawa recently, when the Minister of State Education visited the Federal Government College, Kiyawa, Jigawa State.

Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba decried the recent events, enjoined members of the public to be vigilant, as it is a collective responsibility to secure the lives of students.

In his words, “No man can come into a community and take away over 200 hundred students, if the community is watchful enough to observe and report to appropriate authorities”.

“It is no longer the sole responsibilityof the government but also that of the citizens”, the minister said.

He also commended men of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Police (NPF) officers he met at the school, saying that all hands must be on deck to support education security.

The out-of -school children has been a prevailing societal problem we need to tackle as a government.

Hon. Minister Emeka Nwajiuba, said it was a delight to join the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, H.E Badaru Abubakar in launching the Better Education Service Delivery for All. It is our hope that this platform will fulfill its purpose of getting more children off the streets and into classes.
