SDP: South West leaders endorse Gabam as Ag Chairman, fires Agunloye as Secretary

At an emergency meeting of SouthWest leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which took plce in Ibadan last Saturday, 23rd April, 2022 ratified the suspension of the National Secretary of the party Dr Olu Agunloye.

They also endorsed the appointment of Alhaji Shehu Gabam as the party’s Acting National Chairman.

In a statement signed by Chairman, SDP, Lagos State Chapter, Hon. Femi Olaniyi (Ferarri), on behalf of all the invited SW SDP leaders, the party leaders agreed that the party must be repositioned to enhance its chances in the forthcoming polls.

According to the communiqué signed by Olaniyi on behalf of the SouthWest leaders, they accepted and upheld the suspension of Dr Olu Agunloye from the SDP, as they found him culpable of “allegations of fraud and anti-party activities by his Ward and the Ondo State Executive Committees of the party.

Secondly, they rejected in its entirety, what they called the “unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional swapping of positions between Dr Agunloye and Alhaji Shehu Gabam and upheld the resolution that Alhaji Gamba be returned to his position as Acting National Chairman, pending the conduct of the next National Convention of the party.

They unanimously passed a Vote of No Confidence in Dr Agunloye, asked him never to dream of parading himself as the Bational Secretary of the SDP, even as they accepted what they called Dr Agunloye’s face saving resignation from the party.

They mandated the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to call for the nomination of a responsible, law-abiding and befitting party chieftain from the SW to occupy the position of National Secretary of the party as a matter of urgency and gave a commitment to put an end to factionalisation of the party in the Southwest.
