A lower court in the city of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve Centre has heard a case of a security man accused of stealing property belonging to First Bank Nigeria Plc.
Gambo Mark Moses, 40, was first taken into custody by the police at the Ikoyi Division after being accused of stealing the property a month after being employed by the apex bank.
The suspect was accused of stealing two Jacuzi Tap Host valued at N60,000 at the bank’s warehouse just a month after he secured the job unknown to him that officials of First Bank of Nigeria counted the numbers of the host inside the warehouse.
Moses, from Gombe State was charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court Lagos on a one count charge of stealing.
Reuben Solomon, police counsel told the Court in the charge marked P/15/2022 that Moses committed the offence on 10 July, 2022 at the First Bank of Nigeria Property located at 36, Milverton Street, Ikoyi, Lagos one Month after he was employed.
Solomon informed the Court that the accused betrayed the trust reposed in him by his employer as a Security man employed to guard its property but turn around to steal them.
He said the offense the accused committed were punishable under session 287(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Moses, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate O.A. Abioye granted him N100,000 bail with one surty in like sum.
Abioye adjourned the case till 4 October, 2022 for mention and ordered that the accused be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
