See list of airlines banned by Nigeria govt

As International flights resumed in Nigeria today after six months restriction by the Federal Government on the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika has released a list of airlines approved to operate international flights into the country and those banned from the nation’s airspace.

It would be recalled that the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, were the only two airports approved to begin international flights into the country.

The list of the banned airlines are:

– Air France

– KLM 

– Etihad

– RwandAir

– Air Namibia

– Royal Air Maroc

– Lufthansa

– TAAG Angola

International airlines allowed to land in Nigeria from September 5:

Lagos:

– British Airways

– Delta

– Emirates

– Qatar

– AWA

– Kenya Airways

– Middle East Airlines

For the Abuja Airport, the following Airlines have been approved to operate:

– BA

– Egypt Air

– Emirates 

– Ethiopian Airlines

– AWA

– Middle East Airlines

– Turkish Airlines

Other approved airlines are; Virgin Atlantic, Air Sky, and Air Côte d’Ivoire

The decision to ban or approve airlines was taken based on:

– the foreign carrier operating permit, the guidelines by COVID-19 task force and travel restrictions initiated by other countries

Flights are banned from countries that have banned flights from Nigeria.
