The Senate Leader, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi representing Kebbi North Senatorial District has distributed 650 pumping machines to farmers for the dry season farming.
The machines were distributed in six local government areas of his constituency in Kebbi.
Abdullahi, who distributed the items in Argungu on Thursday, stated the gesture was part of his contributions to complement federal and state governments’ efforts at ensuring food sufficiency.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the benefiting local government areas are: Argungu, Arewa, Augie, Dandi, Bagudo and Suru .
The senator was represented at the event by the Chairman of Malamawa Kabi Youths Foundation, Alhaji Danlatu Abubakar.
He urged the farmers to use the items judiciously for the purpose which they were meant for.
“Today, I am distributing 100 water pumping machines to each of the six local government areas in his constituency.
“Each of the councils is getting 100 machines with the exception of Argungu, which is getting 150 machines.
“I have also given out the same items to other stakeholders before now.
“The purpose of giving out these items is to complement the efforts of federal and state governments in sustaining food security in the country.
“I urge all the beneficiaries to use these agriculture tools very well for the purpose they are distributed for.
“You should not sell it and by God’s grace, the senate leader will do more for you,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen in the constituency, Alhaji Hassan Maikwado, who is also the APC Chairman of Bagudo Local Government, commended the senator for the gesture.
He added that the people in the senatorial district expected more of such gestures from their representatives in order to sustain the dividends of democracy the people in areas had been enjoying.
NAN reports that the ceremony was also attended by the former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Bello Dantani, among other state and local government officials.
