In her continuous push to see women and girls do more in their chosen careers and businesses, SheCan Nigeria, a non-governmental organisation, has completed 4-day training for over 2,500 girls, women and men alike in its Annual Skill Acquisition Training programme.
At the training, which took place at the North Gate Arena Event Centre, Anthony, Lagos, SheCan Founder, Mrs Ezinne Ezeani said the organisation is poised to empower and build Nigerians with requisite skills to realise their potential irrespective of their background.
According to Mrs Ezeani, commended participants for cooperating with their facilitators, which she noted contributed to bringing the best out of them.
She urged them to always push ahead to do more, adding that only this would they continue to improve on what they have learnt and strive for excellence and be the best in their career, education or business.
On her part, Mrs. Belinda Ikazoboh, General manager, Business Transformation, at Shell/SNEPCO said she was impressed with the different products exhibited participants at the training.
She said she was humbled, impressed, and inspired to do more, adding that what the participants have done was not just for themselves, but have inspired other people outside to do more.
She advised them to “be focused, work hard and always be willing to come forward to help others”.
Thanking SheCan Nigeria for achieving the great feat, Ikazoboh advised the organisation to keep up the good work which she said is creating new opportunities and inspiring other people to get out there to do more.
She said through the empowerment initiative which it has sustained over time, SHE CAN is helping to change Nigeria.
Mrs. Junadia Danso-Edim, the Group CEO of Middlechase Properties Ltd, a Lagos-based real estate development and management firm, (subsidiary of Arkbridge Integrated Ltd) gave opportunity of free training to participants whom she said must be genuinely interested in learning how to start a real estate business, adding that the training will help them build financial future regardless of what they have.
Mrs Danso-Edim awarded participants of the ‘Omalicha’ headgear challenge undisclosed cash prizes and an invitation to the launch of the company’s new product, ‘Omalicha’, which she said was a unique product targeted at women in low, middle, and high-income to own houses and income generating assets.
Mrs. Olajumoke Ajayi, a SheCan Nigeria Board Member at the event said through the Annual Skill Acquisition Programme, SheCan is contributing to the drive to eradicate unemployment in the country. She however advised participants to emphasize giving out quality to their customers and avoid cutting corners in an attempt to have a quick breakthrough in their chosen businesses.
Mrs. Folashade Moyo-Falayi, Legal Counsel Upstream Commercial & Gas at Shell/SNEPCO, spoke to the participants to stay away from illegality, crime and be compliant with the law when they begin their businesses, adding that if SheCan was involved in illegality, the organisation wouldn’t have gotten the support they are getting from their sponsors.
Advising them as beneficiaries of SheCan skill acquisition, she said they should do more by setting up a trust for themselves and their beneficiaries to reduce out-of-school children and to take crime out of the street, adding that it was the only way they could involve in their own matter after they have gone out of this world. “You can actually speak from the dead if you have taken the right actions of setting up a trust because life happens. Give yourself to honesty, integrity, and savings for yourself and the future”. She stressed.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Stanley Ezeani, the Co-founder SheCan Nigeria and Managing Director, Mbr Signature Ltd in his closing remarks thanked the sponsors and partners for believing in the dream and aligning with the vision through their unwavering support to all their various programmes to ensure women continue to do more.
To the participants, he said, “You have been trained and there is nothing on earth that has never happened before. What will make the difference is what you choose to do with what you have learnt. You have been empowered so much but it is now up to you to decide what to make out of it. I encourage you to be the best and not just doing more, but doing the right more”.
The Training powered by NNPC/SNEPCO, supported by ALAT/Sara, Middlechase Properties Ltd, Guinness Ltd, and Mbr Signature saw participants trained in photography, Makeup, 3D Graphics Design, Mural Painting, Culinary Class, Ankara/ Leather Works, Crafts (Fascinator) and Digital Marketing.
A Cheque of One Hundred Thousand Naira was presented to a participant from each class based on punctuality, consistency, attitude to work, and attitude in class. They are Blessed Omogene; Makeup Class, Blessing Simeon; Graphics Class, Samson Ogaro; Photography Class, Ezeano Blessing; Catering Class, Azeezat Usman; Mural Class, Odujirin Boluwatife; Ankara Class and Stephen Tobi; Fascinator class.
