The Lagos State Government yesterday announced that it will divert traffic flow at Brewery, Ijora, Gaskiya and Dockyard Level Crossings for night maintenance works from Monday 26th to Thursday 29th July, 2021.
Disclosing this in a statement, the Transportation Commissioner Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said the level crossings in the aforementioned order will be closed daily, from 8:00pm till 6:00am, to check for any damage caused by the heavy downpour that occurred recently.
On Monday night, motorists heading towards Surulere and other areas from Brewery will be diverted to Bode Thomas through Costain Bridge and National Theatre Bridge, to Bode Thomas and its environs or alternatively, use Costain roundabout to link Iponri and Alaka to connect Stadium and Ojuelegba, or use Stadium under bridge to access Inner Surulere. Road users can equally utilize Costain roundabout inwards Iponri to link up with Iponri Estates and access Bode Thomas.
During Ijora police station level crossing maintenance works on Tuesday, July 27 night, road users are advised to make use of Gaskiya straight road to access Ijora 7up under bridge axis and it’s environs from Safejo axis
On Wednesday, July 28 night, during the maintenance works of Gaskiya level crossing, motorists will be diverted to Orile to link National Theater bridge to access Ijora 7up under bridge axis and it’s environs, or alternately use Ijora police station level crossing as alternative route to access Ijora 7up axis and it’s environs.
On Thursday, 29th July night, which is the last day, motorists will be diverted to a contra flow lane during the rehabilitation of the Dockyard level Crossing. The contra flow traffic will enable motorists have access to their desired destination.
Road users are advised to comply with the traffic directions provided by the traffic enforcement personnel on ground to minimize inconveniences
The Commissioner further explained that contra flow will be created on the lanes that are free when rehabilitation works are ongoing on the others, to enable motorists ply the routes and reach their various destinations without much difficulty.
Lagos State Government is hereby appealing to residents of the State, especially motorists to make use of the alternatives to ease traffic flow, as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless Multi Modal Transport System that is being envisaged for a greater Lagos.
