Stop chasing shadows, Tinubu 2023 remains God’s project – Alawuje

Adegoke Alawuje

The National President of the Yoruba Welfare Group, Comrade Adegoke Alawuje has asked those working against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition to steer clear, saying Tinubu:2023 remains God’s project.

Alawuje said Tinubu remains the most valuable and the most deserving candidate Nigeria needs come 2023.

He noted that Tinubu’s adversaries have ignorantly exposed his potential as the most endurable, most focused and a very cool headed leader with the highest capability to handle Nigeria’s challenges.

“Asiwaju has proven to be the most tolerant political leader that can liberate this nation. He understands how mischievous opposition behaves and knows how to handle them, especially when they are frustrated.

“Tinubu is assigned no responsibility in the government, still he suffers most for the ‘sins’ of all in the ruling party; as a father who bears responsibility for all his children. But for the special grace of Almighty God, Asiwaju wouldn’t have survived all the ideological wars and the social injustice directed against him”.

The YWG National President advised those in the opposition to play mature politics, noting that if those who are in the corridor of power today could survive as opposition for sixteen years, the present crop of opposition politicians should also be able to endure same

He explained that Nigeria has two types of opposition within and outside the political parties, namely: the ‘rough and dangerous’ on one hand and the ‘cool and simple’ on the other.

He identified the first group among ‘the rough and dangerous’ as those who are frustrated because they have permanently been denied free access to the nation’s treasury with no other means of survival.

“However, there are those among this group in their various states and in the National Assembly but who remain as opposition within the ruling party.

Among the ‘cool and simple’ are those who are afraid of remaining in opposition party even with juicy offices. This is epitomised by the level of crossing-carpeting to the ruling party despite its challenges.

“But there are those in the opposition party who remain ‘rough and dangerous’. They will be outside, looking for how to cripple the ruling party without giving considerations to the consequences of their actions on the innocent masses. They keep attacking and discrediting the government in power, justifiably and otherwise.

“Unfortunately most of the masses could not independently think to decipher the truth’from falsehood.

YWG National President nevertheless saluted the courage and the tolerance of Asiwaju Tinubu who among other rugged politicians, endured opposition for sixteen years of PDP.

He noted that Tinubu and some of these politicians fought to take over as the ruling party, and still remain ‘cool and calm’ in the ruling party without holding any position in government.

Alawuje wondered how Tinubu has survived outside the government he led to success, despite the attacks he daily suffers from both the opposition and the ruling party.

He thus urged Nigerians to be focused and be prepared to support Tinubu to succeed Buhari in 2023, saying no well-meaning Nigerian should attempt to disconnect the link between Tinubu and Buhari, especially when the nation is at a breaking point.

“We must accept the fact that many interests within and outside Nigeria want to break the country but Tinubu factor remains a major link that still binds the South and the North together, notwithstanding the provocative statements that some individuals or groups are introducing into the polity”, he said.
