Says he has no hand in Ekiti, denies owning Facebook, Twitter handles
The Yoruba socio-cultural activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has faulted claims by the Special Adviser to President Muhammad’s Buhari on Political Matters Senator Babafemi Ojudu of this involvement in the gubernatorial election won by the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2009.
Ojudu, in an article published yesterday had claimed he knew Sunday Igboho as far back as 2009, and had indeed being instrumental to the party winning the Ekiti gubernatorial election won by Dr Kayode Fayemi.
He claimed Igboho who then was a political thug, had been hired by a Senator from Osun State, to foment trouble in Ekiti, but was dissuaded by the creative engagement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who eventually gave him a “golden handshake”.
But in an interview with the BBC Yoruba on Tuesday, Igboho denied Ojudu’s claims, saying he neither knew nor has ever worked with him either on Ekiti or elsewhere. Igboho who challenged Ojudu to swear by his children if his claims were true, said further that he also never had any relationship with the strongman of Ibadan politics, late Alhaji Adedibu.
He wondered how he could have taken a leave from Adedibu, in 2009, when it was an open knowledge that the Ibadan strongman died in 2008.
He said his leader in political circle had been former Governor of Oyo State Alhaji Raheem Ladoja, whom he never deserted despite the heated politics that saw him impeached as the state governor.
“The only leader I knew and have in politics is Alhaji Ladoja. Everybody in Ibadan knows that it was him I followed and I never ditched him or followed Adedibu under any guise, so I don’t know where Ojudu got his imaginary story from.”
Igboho denied ever meeting with Ojodu, or ever holding any meeting with the former Governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress chieftain Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Igboho who spoke extensively in the Yoruba language however said actions such as that of people like Ojudu would never deter him from defending the Yoruba territorial integrity and prevent further killings and kidnappings of innocent people on any inch of Yorubaland by the Fulanis.
The cultural fighter reputed to be endowed with metaphysical powers also denied ownership of a Tweeter handle Sunday Igboho. He urged Nigerians to be wary of such conmen as such people might be out to defraud people.
“My attention has been drawn to the fact that a Tweeter handle has been created and is now trending on Sunday Igboho. I do not have any Tweeter handle and am not on Facebook or any social media. Anybody who deals with such handles does so at his or her own risk,” he further said.
