Super Eagles coach, Gernert Rohr sacked, but will be paid over N600m

Rohr

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has been sacked as coach of the Nigeria Senior National team, but a staggering N600m will be given to the German tactician by the Nigerian Football Federation.

The decision to sack the Franco-German gaffer was taken after a bank associated with the senior National team of Nigeria, agreed to pay the termination clause in the contract of the coach.

The Nigeria football Federation (NFF) have communicated the decision to the former Niger and Burkina Faso coach, and have started the search for a new coach who will pilot the affairs of the team for the 2022 World Cup Play offs, and also the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

Salisu Yusuf has been reported to taking over as the Super Eagles caretaker  coach

Yusuf, 59, was implicated in a bribery scandal in 2018 after being caught on video accepting bribes from an undercover reporter, but said it was a gift, and that he would not have selected the players based on the payment.

Yusuf said at the time: “I did accept $750 handed to me by one of the two agents to the two Nigerian players, only as a gift of trivial and symbolic value and not as an inducement to play the two players represented by the two agents, as Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye would want you to believe.”
