Suspected cultist arrested for ‘killing two persons’ in Ogun

Ogun

The police in Ogun State have arrested one Ibiyemi Wasiri, who was described as “a notorious serial killer” and “member of Eiye cult group”.

Police said Wasiri had been on the command’s wanted list for his active participation in the murder of one Michael Abiodun (aka S1) on July 22; and one Kola Fagbemi on July 24, all in 2021.

The suspect, said to be an ex-convict, was arrested when the police at Ilaro Divisional Headquarters got information that he was sighted in a criminal hideout at Igboro area of Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun.

The state police image maker, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen on Thursday that the DPO of Ilaro division, CSP Olayemi Jacob, had mobilized his men to the scene, where the suspect was arrested in the midst of some hoodlums; who, he said, escaped.

“A bag found with him was searched and one cut to size locally made pistol and seven live cartridges was recovered therein.

“He confessed buying the gun from neighbouring Benin Republic. He was said to be a member of the dreaded Eiye cult group terrorizing Ilaro and its environs,” Oyeyemi explained.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Lanre Bankole, has ordered that the suspect be immediately moved to the State CIID for discreet investigation.
