Ten persons reportedly perished in a fatal auto crash at Onipako village on Jebba-Bode-Saadu highway on Sunday.

Seventeen others were injured in the auto crash which occurred at about 2.40p.m at Jebba, in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara state.

The auto crash involved two commercial vehicles, a six passenger Toyota car with registration number AAA 250 CB and 18-seater Hummer bus registered with LAP 179 XA.

The victims of the accident in the six-passenger car were returning to their destination after attending the prayer session of a departed colleague, DAILY POST gathered.

An eyewitness blamed the driver of the six passenger car for over speeding and wrongly overtaking the 18 seater Hummer bus.

Police and officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Jebba Division were at the accident scene for rescue operations.

The injured victims were taken to Jebba Medical Centre.

Kwara State Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the accident, said 26 people comprising 20 males and six females were involved in the auto crash.

Spokesman of the Kwara State Police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi also confirmed the development.

He said the Hummer bus was coming to Kwara, while the other vehicle was going out of the State when the accident occurred.

He confirmed that “about 10 persons died. The accident involved a Toyota corolla car and a Hummer bus.”

“The Hummer bus was coming inward Kwara while the other car was going out,” he added.
