Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has claimed Rasmus Hojlund is carrying a “small issue”, which was why he was taken off early in the second half of their 3-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday.
Supporters inside Old Trafford booed Ten Hag’s decision to replace Hojlund with Anthony Martial.
Hojlund had a goal disallowed because the ball had gone out before Marcus Rashford crossed it before he was taken off.
On fans’ reaction to Hojlund being substituted, Ten Hag told Sky Sports: “He is coming with a small issue and we have to be careful, but the reception of the fans was great.
“His game was great, and the fans embraced it. He was unlucky with the disallowed goal; it would have been a great afternoon for him. It was not the case, but he will keep going. He is a strong character, as we are as a team, and we will push back.”
