Shehu Sani, a socio-political activist, has accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, of shutting out the All Progressives Congress, APC, leadership.
Sani made the remark while reacting to the appointment of principal officers in the National Assembly.
He, however, noted that Akpabio and Abbas announced the principal officers with the consent of President Bola Tinubu.
Recall that the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, said the National Working Committee, NWC, had no input in the emergence of the leaders of the National Assembly.
Sunrise reports that the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, announced the ratification of the zoning formula proposed by Tinubu at the end of its meeting on May 8, 2023.
But, Adamu, who chaired the meeting, made a U-turn on Tuesday when he disowned the leaders of the National Assembly.
He categorically stated that the APC NWC had no hand in the emergence of Akpabio as the Senate President and Abbas as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as well as other principal officers.
Reacting, Sani tweeted: “Akpabio and Abbas list SEEMS to have been announced with the consent of the President but without consulting or harmonising with the party.
“The signal here is that the party leadership is shut out or kept at arm’s length.”
