Tinubu’s Continued Frailty Worries Party

All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu may have a hard time adjusting to the rigours of campaigns anytime it breaks out if his failing health is anything to go by.

It is also a pointer to how he will cope in office if he eventually wins and succeeds President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sources who were at the Blantyre Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja’s National Secretariat of the party when he visited today, Wednesday September 7, 2022, said Tinubu, who came in around 3pm, appeared weak and frail.

Tinubu and his running mate Sen. Kashim Shettima, were slated to meet with the National Working Committee of the party to streamline activities ahead of preparations for campaigns which begins on September 28, 2022.

However, signs of the former Lagos State Governor’s frail physical condition came to the fore during his visit.

Sources told Sunrise News that Tinubu visibly staggered while alighting from the car that conveyed him to the venue and had to be gently supported by a top party chieftain as he makes his way into the building.

“Although I am a party loyalist and the credentials of Tinubu are not in doubt; going by his time as governor of Lagos State, I can confirm, however; that many of us in the party are worried about Jagaban’s state of health. He does not appear to be physically fit for the rigours of campaigns as well as the challenges of governance.

“I daresay that Tinubu is long past the physical rigours of the office he seeks to occupy.

“It was a struggle for him to alight from the car when he arrived at the National Secretariat earlier today. In fact, he staggered and had to be steadied by one of his aides. Also, the Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari had to hold on to him and acted as if they were conversing as he shielded him into the building,’’ the source said.

Tinubu is contesting the 2023 Presidential election as the standard-bearer of the APC. He emerged winner of the party primary held on June 6, defeating 21 other aspirants including the Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum Dr Kayode Fayemi (who stepped down), former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, among others.

He faces what appears to be a very tough battle in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election with the likes of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate Atiku Abubakar and the hugely popular Peter Obi of Labour Party.
