Toba Oke begins second phase distribution of food packages in Ifako-Ijaiye

Oke, personally sharing the relief materials to households in the council area on Thursday.

The Chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke has commenced the second phase of distribution of the Local Government emergency food packages to residents of the council area.

The exercise which commenced today, Thursday, 9 April, 2020 focused on vulnerable, elderly and youth administered through a personal house-to-house delivery by the Council helmsman.

Oke said after reviewing the activities of the seven wards of the Local Government on the COVID-19 emergency food package that the local government has expanded the house-to-House strategy of the distribution in order to reach the wider targeted people,” I discovered that there is a need for the second phase because there are still more needy people within the locality “. A palliative to assist residents cushion the effect of the stay-at-home directive of the Federal Government of Nigeria and Lagos State Government.

The Council chairman noted that over 2,000 households or families were reached at their various doorstep,. He reiterated that “ the stimulus package was not meant for everybody within the community rather for the aged, residents and most vulnerable in the society”. He appealed to spirited members of the public, private and NGOs to come on board through partnership with the local government for more supportive initiative at widening the dragnet of the emergency food package.

Oke further averred and gave the assurance that everything have be done personally to deliver these packages to the categories of households identified as beneficiaries of the emergency food package in Banire street and its environs.

He, Cautioned that people and residents should remember there is higher risk of spreading Coronavirus through movement and travel,adding “ residents are warned and implored to stay at home, Social distance and avoid all essential movement and travel”, he said.
