The chairman, Ifako-Ijaiye Council Area of Lagos State, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration’s proactive approach through constant briefings and issuing safety and health guidlines to Lagosians in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State and Nigeria in general.
He, made the disclosure on Monday against the backdrop of government’s order at the weekend prohibiting gathering of large number of people, be it social or religious, as well as a 2- week from home Order to level 01-12 civil servants in the state, commencing from Monday, 23rd of March, 2020, in the first instance, as social distancing preventive measures to curtailing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The council chief said there is need for all hands to be on deck to complement various proactive prevent measures of Mr. Governor towards preventing a spread of the virus, adding that “washing of hands with soap under a running water always, use of sanitizer, maintaining good hygiene at all times, avoiding needless large gathering of street traders/people, as well as maintaining social distancing, among others are required of all residents across the council area”, he stated.
Oke, further urged parents /guardians to encourage their children/wards as they observe their holidays, to take advantage of government’s mobile learning platform where teachers will handle lessons using combination of resources as videos, images, audio, notes, exercises and activities would be posted on the platform and their progress tracked.
He, implored residents to avail the local government using dedicated phone contact of any known case of person (s) suspected to exhibiting symptoms of the disease as: fever, cold, dry cough, tiredness, and difficulty in breathing.
