Toba Oke gives cash relief to council workers

To cushion the effects of the lockdown on the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area workers, the council chief Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has approved the disbursement of N3,000 cash relief for all cadres of staffs in the council.

Oke who disclosed this after a meeting with the Chairman of National Union Of Local Government Employee (NULGE) Ifako-Ijaiye Branch, Comrade Folorunsho David Kayode and his Executive, said the gesture is meant to give succour to all workers.

He stated that, both pensionable and Non-pensionable staffs of the local government are beneficiaries of the flat rate. He therefore commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for putting in place necessary measures to curtail and flatten the curve of the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in Lagos State.

The council chief urged the good people of Ifako-Ijaiye and Lagosians to always obey the directive laid down by the federal and state governments in preventing the spread of the dreaded virus.

“I am again appealing for the understanding of every good people of Ifako-Ijaiye not to disobey the government’s directive, while I urge all residents to stay at home pending the time the coronavirus scourge will be over. We should always endeavor to wash our hands properly at intervals and avoid social gathering, by doing so, we are more likely to be free from the virus”, he said.

“I appreciate the efforts of the Federal Government via the NCDC synergy with Lagos State government in putting necessary measures in place to curtail and put an end to the virus “, Oke added.

Folorunsho in his response on behalf of NULGE, Ifako-Ijaiye branch “admonished the chairman with his unprecedented magnanimous gesture to all cadres of staff averring that the Payment would enable them take care of their needs during the COVID-19 lockdown before their salary alert comes in while praying for more wisdom and longevity on the part of the chairman in order to steer the ship of the local government to greater heights”. he said.
