Few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Lagos for the APC Mega Rally at the Teslim Balogun stadium, fuel tankers and trailers are now gradually returning to Alaka inward Eko Bridge.
Early today, the articulated vehicles took over both lanes inward Eko Bridge leading to heavy traffic build up in the axis.
Some days before the President’s visit to Lagos, Lagosians were amazed to see the articulated vehicles removed completely from the road from Fadeyi.
The question residents are asking is why the sudden appearance of the tanker and containers if they could be kept away from the road ahead of the visit by the President.
Investigation by our correspondent further revealed that most of the drivers of the vehicles were made to part with as much as N20,000 to security agencies in order to have a quicker access to the ports.
We later spoke with the Chairman, Apapa G.R.A Residents Association, retired Brigadier General, Ayo Shola-Vaughan, who described the latest development as sad and deliberate.
He also accused the Task Force put in place to regulate how the vehicles access the Ports and the Nigerian Ports Authority of complicity in the whole issue.
Shola-Vaughan vowed that they will take legal action against the NPA and the owners of shipping companies after the expiration of 21 day ultimatum on the matter.
