As she left her Isolo home, nothing for work on Thursday, she had no premonition she would never return alive. But that was the fate that befell Miss Oreoluwa Aina, a youth Corper serving with the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Alausa, Ikeja.
With each step she took that dreadful day, she was approaching the land of no return.
Aina, boarded the ill-fated BRT, which is the staff bus taking her and about 84 others to the government secretariat. It was her last earthly vehicle.
She never made it to the secretariat alive, her corpse was deposited at the mortuary and all her dreams came crashing as the curtain was forcefully drawn on her life.
They all saw death coming. Shouted it down, but fate drowned their din. The next they heard was a huge noise as the train crashed into the bus, dragging it for about a kilometer before finally stopping. The BRT had darted into the railway line in a bid to quickly cross the rail at PWD in Ikeja, but the roaring train caught up with it and the rest is history.
On Friday, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu paid the family of the deceased corps member a visit to console with the family.
The governor commiserated with the mother of the deceased at her residence and prayed God to grant her the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
