Lagos State Government said it will close down PWD Level Crossing around Ikeja GRA axis on Friday January 10, 2020 while the Brewery level crossing along Iganmu will be closed on Saturday, January 11.
Both axis would be closed from 8:00pm to 6:00am.
A statement from the Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation said the new date was arrived to ensure smooth and uninterrupted flow of work on the rail tracks.
According to the statement signed by Mrs Lola Okunlola, alternative routes have been provided for road users to utilize during the course of construction to ensure motorists reach their various destinations with ease.
Motorists plying Ikeja axis are advised to access their destinations via Ilupeju Level Crossing and Ikeja along Level Crossing, while motorists driving along Iganmu axis inward Surulere should make use of Costain express way and Orile Express corridor, Bode Thomas Street and Eric Moore Road.
“Lagos State Government is hereby appealing to residents of the state, especially motorists that ply these corridors to bear the pains, as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless multi-modal transport system in the state.”
The government, the statement further stated, would continue to take steps to create transport infrastructure that will ultimately improve the travel experience of commuters in the state.
