Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has been impressed by Atletico Madrid’s effort to sign him this summer.
The La Liga giants are said to have taken a major step towards signing the former Real Madrid forward.
Atletico reportedly want to sign Ronaldo by putting star forward Antoine Griezmann up for sale.
Atletico’s Argentine gaffer, Diego Simeone is said to be keen on bringing Ronaldo back to La Liga, but his club need to free up space on their wage bill to facilitate a deal.
Reports from Spain earlier this week said that Ronaldo’s agent had reached out to Atletico to offer the services of the Portugal international to them.
Ronaldo is reportedly keen on leaving Old Trafford this summer in search of Champions League football elsewhere and also because the Red Devils have not impressed him with their summer business.
With Bayern Munich, PSG and Chelsea all out of the running, Atletico now look like Ronaldo’s biggest hope of securing a move to a club that would fulfil his main criteria.
The Times reports that the Portuguese football icon is currently ‘impressed’ with the attempt made by Atletico manager, Diego Simeone to sign him.
Ronaldo is said to be willing to join Atletico Madrid despite the fact the move won’t go down well with Real Madrid supporters.
