Truss becomes UK PM

A new dawn becomes in the United Kingdom as Liz Truss was announced as the next Prime Minister.

She replaces Boris Johnson who was kicked out of office in July by the Parliament after months of acrimonious politics after allegations of scams.

Truss who becomes the third female Prime Minister emerged with over 22,000 parliamentarian’s votes, promises to battle the energy crisis and address public finances and tax crisis, which has became major issue during the campaign.

Truss was until today, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs since 2021, and Minister for Women and Politics since 2019.

Truss addressing Conservative Parliamentarians

In her acceptance address, Truss pledged to deliver on the promises of the Conservative Party. “During this leadership campaign, I campaigned as a Conservative and I will govern as a conservative.

“I will deliver on National Health Service. I will make sure we use all the fantastic talents of the Conservative Party. We would deliver. We would deliver and we would deliver. we would deliver a great victory for the Conservative Party in 2024.”

Boris Johnson, last month had officially tendered his resignation letter to the Queen and the Head of Government, formally kick-starting activities leading to his eventual replacement by the Conservative Party.
