Two feared killed in Ondo cult clash

Two persons were feared killed on New Year’s Eve, following clashes between two cults in Ondo town.

Although details of the incidents were sketchy last night, it was learnt that the clashes were a reprisal.

The incidents, acording to The Nation, almost marred the New Year celebration, occurred in three locations in the town.

One of the clashes occurred at Sabo, which claimed the life of a popular task force officer in the town called ‘Drogba’.

An eyewitness said the deceased was in the area around 6:30am when some hoodlums who rode a motorcycle, suddenly emerged and shot him at close-range.

He was said to have been rushed to the Ondo Trauma Centre where he was confirmed dead by the doctors.

Another clash claimed a yet-to- be identified man at Shora.

The victim was said to have been killed by two members of a rival cult after altercations.

Two persons were said to have also sustained injuries at a Lotto pool joint at Ebido junction where they were discussing, following an attack by two men on a motorcycle.

The incident caused panic in the community.

The police, who patrolled the town, have arrested many people.

Spokesman Femi Joseph, a Superintendent of Police (SP), could not be reached for confirmation last night.
