…as commuters stranded due to strike by Commercial Bus Drivers
A combined team of the Police and the Military have foiled an attempt by a gang of armed robbers to operate around Coker Aguda, Surulere in the early hours of today.
Exchange of gun fire between the robbers and security men lasted for almost one hour as fears enveloped residents of the area.
Luck however ran out of two among the gang members who were arrested in the process.
Sunrise News reliably gathered that the armed robbers have swung into operation around Pako, Willie Omiyi and Omilani in the area when calls were made to security operatives who responded swiftly.
In another development, many of the residents of the area have been stranded at various Bus stops as threats of strike threatened by Association of Commercial Bus Drivers kicks off.
However, some residents resorted to fate by trekking long distances to get to their destinations.
Few commercial buses available have increased their fares which some passengers described as too high.
You will recall that the Association of Commercial Bus Drivers issued seven days notice to embark on strike due to failure of the state government to stop the illegal fees collection by the Management of parks and garages, an agency set up by the government and extortion by the police.
