Two rescued as dredging boat capsizes on Lagos’ Eko Atlantic

Two persons have been rescued as a boat capsized on Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island area of Lagos, Nigeria.

Director, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, told Sunrise News that the two persons were rescued.

He said the LASEMA’s Response Unit (LRT) arrived the scene of the incident and discovered that a dredging vessel had capsized.

He said further investigation revealed that two adult male on the vessel had fallen overboard but were immediately rescued by local divers at the scene of the incident.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the victims were immediately provided with First aid by the Agency’s paramedics.

He added that they had since been stabilised and that the operation had been concluded.

In his words: “The agency’s LRT arrived at the scene of the incident, to discover that a dredging vessel had capsized at the Eko Atlantic location.

“Further investigation revealed that two adult male on the vessel had fallen overboard but were immediately rescued by local divers at the scene of the incident.

“They were immediately provided with First aid by the Agency’s paramedics. They have since been stabilized and the operation concluded.”
