Unbelievable: 40 communities around Sango Ota thrown into blackout by rainstorm, says IBEDC

At least 40 communities have been thrown into total darkness following the heavy rainstorm that fell on Sunday, in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State, the electricity provider for the axis, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, IBEDC, has said.

The downpour that lasted for over two hours on Sunday, destroyed properties, including buildings, vehicles, electrical poles and wires at Sango-Ota Under Bridge and Oju-Ore area of Ogun State.

Among the communities which the rainstorm have thrown into darkness according to the IBEDC are; lyana lyesi, Osuke Town, Egan Road, lyana Ilogbo, Ijaba, Ijagba, Itele, Lafenwa, Singer, Joju, Alishiba, Oju Ore, Tollgate, Eledi, Akeja, Abebi, Osi Round About, Ota Town, Ota Industrial Estate, Igberen, lju, Atan, Onipanu, Obasanjo, Lusada, Arigba, Odugbe, Ado-Odo, Igbesa, and Owode.

Other areas affected include Baptist Camp Lufiwape, Eltees Farm, August Engineering, Spark Clear Soap, Ayetoro, Amazing Grace Oil, Christopher University, Royal Garden Estate, Pentagon Estate, and environs.

IBEDC called on residents of the areas to avoid “contact with the broken poles, saggy wires or any other electrical installation affected by the rain”.

“Our technical team is working to clear and replace the broken poles and installations to ensure power supply is restored as soon as possible,” IBEDC said.
