Unemployment: Toba Oke commission 100 Ifako Ijaiye residents to rear rabbit

Apostle Oloruntoba Oke the executive Chairman, Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area, has affirmed the resolve of his administration’s to activate home grown economy for residence turning them into entrepreneurs rather than job seekers. 

Oke made the assertion at a 2 days Rabbit training and empowerment scheme held at the NRC building annex office of Ifako Ijaiye LGA.

According to the council boss, the electorates who voted massively for him at the council poll deserves a pay back and the seminar/empowerment is one of the pivots for delivery of the dividend of democracy to them.

“This is just one step in many of the programmes we have in store for our teeming unemployed youths, our believe is that if we sustain it, it would adequately address youth unemployment.

“I am elated that our plans came to fruition, now the beneficiaries can stop searching for unavailable jobs, they can be self reliant and self employed.

“We are much aware that idleness breeds all sort of negatives results, especially cultism amongst the youths so we need to address the issue,tackling unemployment is key,it is a total package we train and start them up,it is the first support they need.

 “They are trained and empowered to rear rabbit,by these we are pulling the youth out of joblessness,being self employed, a proactive step to afford the needed solution to unemployment problem confronting our society.

“Economic empowerment would certainly boost commerce even at a time that local government are being encouraged to do many things.

“So I have no doubt that it would boost commercial activities within the local government because somebody that is not in a particular trade before, one hundred youths are coming into this particular business venture of course commerce is expanding in the local government and we are excited for that.

“The trainer has already told them about the availability of channels through which these things can be sold and like he said a platform will be created through which they will interact from time to time, information regarding everything about the venture will be passed across amongst them.

Superior Evangelist Adegbola Adedamola (JP) while reacting to the council’s people oriented gesture expressed the impact the initiative holds for general populace.

“It is a very good programme, an empowerment that will make beneficiaries who had nothing doing before busy, rabbit rearing is not capital intensive it is very simple, and it will yield increase in few months.

“If as a government you embark on such an initiative, it will check poverty quickly in our society because the rabbit rearing is a lucrative venture that is very good.

“It is going to be a quarterly programme as our amiable chairman hinted, so if it is sustained in this manner; where 100 of us benefited today and others got theirs later it would soon go round.

“I urge us all to take to lessons learnt today from the trainings not to go home and feast on the start up sample given us but rear it and increase it for the benefit of all.

Also a beneficiary Mrs Kehinde Mary stated her plan to go into large farming of Rabbits having been armed with needed knowledge.

“I enjoy the seminar and will start the farming soon, my target is to do the farming in a large quantity, I advise all beneficiaries not to go and sell the start up specimen but to do the actual farming and become economically buoyant and be self employed.
