- All students to vacate hostels before 12noon, Thursday
- Online lectures begin July 26
The Senate of the University of Lagos has ordered the immediate shut down of the University, following an outbreak of the third wave of Coronavirus in the school community.
It was however not clear whether the new outbreak was the dreaded Delta variant of the COVID-19.
The Senate at an emergency session which just ended asked the students to vacate the hostels immediately. They gave students till 12 noon Thursday to vacate the school premises and hostels.
One student who spoke with our correspondent said the news did not come to the students as surprise and everyone of them have been debating it since the news of the emergency session broke out in the morning.
“It is now Coronavirus 1 and Unilag 0. We all feel bad that this is happening as it will affect our academic calendar but what can we do”, the student querried.
Sunrise.ng recalled that the school only last week celebrated its 2019 and 2020 Convocation ceremony with pomp and ceremony.
Some of the students said the source of the new wave of COVID-19 attack on the school might have been from the huge crowd of celebrators and their guests.
