The management of the Federal University Gashua (FUG), Yobe State, have denied the news that has gone viral on social media that it has removed the school’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Andrew Haruna, over allegations of financial recklessness and corruption.
A statement signed by the school’s acting registrar/Secretary to Council Dr A.B. Shehu on Monday, said the letter purported to have been issued by the office earlier was unfounded.
Shehu described the statement as “baseless, mischievous, malicious,” and designed to bring division between members of the school management.
According to the latest statement, the school’s management never met neither had it received any petition or report from anyone that may have warranted such severe punishment, insisting that there are written provisions for the appointment and removal of members of staff of the institution including the Vice Chancellor.
He said rather than sack, the management has passed a vote of confidence on the Vice Chancellor who according to him, has “being diligently performing his responsibilities and official duties.”
