Gunmen have reportedly shot dead a Vigilante Commander, along Okpe road close to the license office in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased, Lucky Victor also known as Asikolo was the Zone 2 Vigilante Commander in the area.

It was learnt that the gunmen trailed him with a numberless tinted sienna and shot him consecutively in his own Sienna car until he died

The Vigilante Group of Nigeria Public Relations Officer in Delta State, Voke Ubuara expressed sadness over the incident.

He said for the past six to seven years, criminals in the town have found it difficult to use the waterways which were part of Asikolo’s jurisdiction.

“Before, when criminals operate in the town, the waterway was an easy escape route, but Asikolo when he assumed office became a stumbling block to that arrangement.

“We will partner with the police to see how we can fish out his killers,” he added.

When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright confirmed the incident.
