The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye on Friday asked his congregants to pray against any more wars in the country.
In his sermon at the weeklong 71st annual Convention of the church with the theme: Beyond Expectations, Pastor Adeboye said Nigeria is presently plagued by several wars and adding another one would be needless.
Adeboye may have been referring to the directive by the ECOWAS Heads of Government’s Special Meeting in Nigeria on Thursday, where they directed the ECOWAS Chiefs of Defence to activate the military organ and be on standby against the military coupists in Niger Republic.
In his opening comments before preaching, Adeboye said Nigeria is plagued by so many wars, such as wars against kidnappers, against banditry, cattle rustlers, farmers/herders clashes, Boko Haram, ISWAP and different shades of criminalities that adding another one would be draining the nation.
He called for prayers for God to intervene and bring peace back to the country, adding that the leaders should seek for peaceful resolution rather than beat the drumbeats of war.
He announced that the church took delivery of a total of 66 babies, made up of 31 boys and 35 girls.
