The Federal Government will continue to partner with the media and other critical stakeholders in the delivery of sustainable intermodal mobility in Nigeria, the Minister of Transportation Sen. Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali has said.

Speaking recently while receiving an industry award presented to him by the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN), Alkali said this is in line with the key priority with which the Tinubu administration accorded transportation as the catalyst for economic development.

He said: “Without transportation, no economy will grow. The President is doing his best to see how we can link the seaports to the inter-land,” adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister of the Economy Mr Olawale Edun to prioritize all ongoing projects of the Ministry of Transportation and ensure that everything humanly possible is done to open up transportation because of its exponential impact on the economy.

“Recently, Mr President granted approval for the construction of six port terminals, to complement the ongoing rail infrastructure modernisation which formed the crux of negotiations between President Bola Tinubu and the Chinese government recently,” he said.

Alkali added that he remained committed to actualizing the agenda of the administration not only in ensuring a seamless transportation believing that it would be the catalyst to a very buoyant economy.

He lauded the media for supporting him since he was appointed minister, adding that the TCAN award presented to him is a morale booster to do his optimal best for the sector.

He has directed the Ministry of Finance to continue the construction of the terminals to UNF, and even the ones that are constructed to be leased out for the purpose of sustainability.
