West Ham vs Man Utd: Solskjaer explains why he benched Sancho in EPL win

Solskjaer

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has explained why he benched Jadon Sancho for the West Ham clash on Sunday.

Solskjaer said that he did not start Sancho in Man United’s 2-1 win against West Ham because of the player’s ability to make an impact off the bench.

Sancho, who replaced Mason Greenwood in the second half against West Ham, had started Man United’s last three games against Wolves, Newcastle and Young Boys, respectively.

“Jadon’s [Sancho] started the Tuesday game and we found the decision better to leave him here now and the chance to come on and make a difference if we need him to,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

He added, “Scott [McTominay] and Fred of course, they are back in, they are a partnership that we see here, we want to have their energy here today.”

Meanwhile, Man United defeated West Ham, thanks to goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard.
